Here using the Leitz Colorplan f2.5 90mm (Leitz Germany version in full metal) on my Lumix:
(pics made in Spring 2015)

Full set is here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kds315/albums/72157658050401373

Very flatfield, very sharp, excellent balanced high contrast colors, very creamy bokeh....

My friend Marco Cavina has an excellent article about this lens here:
http://www.marcocavina.com/articoli_fotografici/Leitz_Colorplan_90_Germany_Portugal/00_pag.htm

(c) Marco Cavina

Be aware NOT to get the "CF" version for photography, as this is computed for a bent image field (glassless slides)!!

It has such a clean rendering, and so modern, that is is to me nearly a bit too sterile,
as I like the older, more "cinematic" look (like my Visonar's).

A fantastic lens to have, mine was just EUR30 or thereabouts in MINT-state. a sleeper!!

Very nice photos, indeed. I like the rendering even if, as you said, it's a little "sterile".
I think that at portrait distance it will show more "character" - the background will be a little more "busy" and the rendering not so clinically clean.

It was always on my list but I was hunting for the "Super" and couldn't find one for under 100 € (my price limit for it) yet.
Leica says about the "Super" :
"Advanced optical computation methods led to the SUPER-COLORPLAN-P2, whose optical performance surpasses even that of the renowned COLORPLAN-P2, to the point that its imaging quality is comparable to that of the APO lenses for our LEICA M and LEICA R cameras."

I'll probably be happy with a plain Colorplan, or a "P"/"P2", too.
Could you please tell me how much is the rear lens to sensor distance for Colorplan? It would be nice to be able to remount it in a 50mm/1.7 Minolta AF lens housing and have AF with it.

I used mine ducktaped onto the VNEX to focus

Hello!
Is the Leitz Colorplan 90/2.5 cover full frame sensor?
Thinking about this lens on Sony a7rII.

This Letz lens looks good, very nice color, you may want to fix the typo in the title. Smile

Thank you! Do you know sizes of this lens? Diameter in mm? What helicoid do you use?

I'm sorry – where I can see your helicoid? What topic?

The diameter at the rear is 46mm.
Mine is only provisionally adapted yet, only for testing : 42->49 + 49->52 step up adapter rings fixed with electric tape at the rear of the lens and a 42 -> E-mount helicoid.

I do not understand, how 46mm cover FF sensor on a7r... Must be vignetting...

The diameter of the FF sensor is 43mm.
As I told you, it doesn't vignet at all.
After all it was intended for projecting 24x36mm slides. It is not a movie projector lens.

I bought a couple of broken Leitz Pradovit slide projectors for cheap and found that they had 2 different era 90/2.5 Colorplans inside.. so I pulled them out and compared them both physically first...

The older all silver, all metal one is taller than the later silver and black plastic top one.. going one step further, I open up the lenses and see that their construction is very different inside as well. The all metal one almost perfectly matches the diagram by Marco Cavina.. 5 elements, 4 groups. The black plastic top one however is much different. It appears to be 6 elements and 4 groups. I made a quickie diagram using the Marco Cavina diagram for comparison:

I'm no lens expert but this is what I see to the best of my knowledge after opening up. I actually had a little trouble putting the plastic top one back together because i was trying to follow the Marco Cavina diagram and the elements just didn't match up at all.

As for picture quality comparison.. I didn't do anything scientific but I did go out and shoot with both lenses for a day and the all metal one appears to be a little sharper than the black plastic top one. I don't know if anyone else has found the same thing.

I have a Leitz projection lens, sold loooong time ago to me as a Colorplan, that is quite similar to the all metal one in the pics above, but has a flat tube (no scalloped ring in the middle) and NO engraving/lettering at all.
It has the classic Leitz plastic cap of all Colorplan's though.
Did you have ever seen an un-marked Colorplan?
I don't remember if it was sold to me as a normal Colorplan or as a curved field one. I remember that i had an aluminium adapter made, to fit it on a Rollei P11 dual-format projector (long gone... great machine with a couple of weak spots).

cheers

Paolo

Would you say that this lens is a better choice than the Pentacon 2.8/80mm?

Very useful old post, can anyone confirm if the 6 element version is the same as the Super one (supposedly apo?)
I have the full metall version, but the Super it might be interesting to get also (not easy to find though)

Besides I've found a plain P2 (no super) version, would it be the same as the Super? Anyway , it looks like there are at least 5 versions of the colorplan

The "P" versions are the PROFESSIONAL series projection lenses; I have a few (packed away); even flatter field they have I remember...

Here some results using the Leitz Super-Colorplan P2 f2.5 90mm:
