Fine for closeup/macro; no infinity.

Canon camera register is shorter than Nikon.

Same for M42 lenses.

Which type of Canon lenses on which Nikon camera?

If you mean Canon FD lens on Nikon (d)SLR, no. Canon FD on Nikon Z mirrorless camera, yes, with an adapter.

The register difference tells the tale. Newer canon and nikon mirrorless may not br on this.

EF lenses & the much older screw mount lenses will also be possible on Z mount with the right adapter.
Practically no other standard lenses will work for infinity on a Nikon dslr without additional optics.

It will be hard to find adapters, to couple any Canon lenses onto F mount, if you cobble something together the maximum focus distance will depend on the mounts & the lenses focal length, varying from close up to macro.

If you have a DSLR or SLR then no, whichever Canon lens you have.

But, and there's always a BUT, Adapters may be available but you will only be able to focus really close, certainly not past a metre or so. I have had the odd adaptor containing a lens which makes up for the difference but it degrades image quality tremendously. You will get a much better picture using the cheapest, crappiest non-brand lens. AND with some Nikon models you will have to go full manual as the auto system will not work.

If your Nikon is a mirrorless Z series, then it will be able to use Canon FD, Leica screw and EOS lenses via adaptors. But the EOS lenses do not have an aperture control, you must buy an adaptor with an aperture, BUT, depending on the lens, it could cause vignetting.

Canon EOS Mirrorless lenses can't be used on a Nikon Mirrorless or DSLR.

If you have a Nikon 1 camera, its possible to use and Canon SLR / DSLR and Leica screw lens but there is no metering and they must be used on full manual.

That covers all bases I think.

Not quite, we've missed out on the latest RF lenses, which aren't practical to adapt to anything AFAIK.

Just about any could be used reversed for macro on any camera, but many wouldn't be a sensible choice for that, aperture control being useful in macro...
