Yes, I had been hesitating for obtaining the lens, because I already own Mamiya Macro 80mm f/4 N, which is nice enough for the macro job. But reading the different reviews and comparisons of both, I started to consider the possibility to add it to my collection. And after the local seller gave to me the discount in $75, I had not been able to withstand the temptation.
And it is really nice also for the general work. Not only for the macro job. It has perfect contrast, and really is sharp from the full opening. Which Macro 80mm f/4 doesn't do so well.
As, for example, how 80mm works on f/4.0:

Personally I would like to get the 110mm 1:2.8 for shots like these but it is another ballpark cost wise. Even if offered at a low starting price auctions always escalate to several hundreds of Euro's

I already own MC Vega-28 120mm f/2.8 lens, which I use on my 645 system with the proper adapter. Anyway on the AF bodies you have to close the diaphragm manually with any kind of the manual lenses.
And t is not at all so bad :

By the way, I compared once Kaleinar-3B 2.8/150 with the native system 645 lens Mamiya-Sekor C 150/3.5. And my conclusion was rather in favor to the 150/3.5.

The Minolta had a bit more lateral CAs, but that was easy correct in PP.

Look at those ... again Sekor A 4/120mm at the Fuji GFX. Again an exhibit from the Domschatzmuseum Chur, this time a fairly flat one -
to show the excellent performance of the Mamiya Macro. First the original image, resized to 900x1200 px. It's a detail from a chasuble (18th century, as far as I remember):
Now the 100% crops.
Image taken at f5.6 - results in best center contrast and fairly good corners (at f4 the corners are slightly soft).
RAW data converted with photoshop. No CA correction applied. Sharpening 40, radius 1 px.
First from the center:
Now the lower right corner. Again - no CA correction applied! The lens has no lateral CAs at all, at least on 50 MP sensors ...
Upper left corner. The slight drop of resolution in the upper left corner of this crop is not caused by lens problems -
but by the chasuble itself which is not completely flat at its upper end. You can see also a tiny amount of LoCAs / purple fringing:
The Mamiya Sekor A 4/120mm certainly is among the very best vintage MF lenses I own (out of nearly 900 lenses).

But it certainly was fun
