I would like to know if any of you own and use this lens on a Contax or Yashica. I am new to this particular camera. The Carl Zeiss 35-70mm is quite well regarded but out of my current budget. There are few of the Yashica f3.5 versions on eBay so I took a chance on a less than perfect one to buy.

I already own a Tamron 35-80mm SP f2.8 and I was impressed with it's results, mounted on a 139Quartz body.

I have both of those lenses and prefer the tamron by a mile, at least on my sony a7ii. the yashica ML is ok but can't hold a candle to the tamron.

Thank you! Yes, I would agree that most Tamron SP lenses are underrated by many people. The 24-48mm SP is very nice as well as their 90mm f2.5 macro

You can also buy the VERY VERY good BUT VERY VERY CHEAP vivitar 35/70 3.5 (komine made).. usually beetween 10 and 20$ !
The tamron 35/80 2.8/3.8 is top quality but it's distortion is enormous

Thank you. I have rarely used the Tamron but I don’t recall seeing the distortion like that.

It depends of the model
the 35/80 2.8/3.8 which is the best from tamron has enormous distortion, the other 35/xx from tamron have "normal" distortion but lower quality
