Wide open:



Look at 100% crops. Better performance of the Nikkor.

@f/4:


Slightly better performance by the Nikkor, but not by much.

@f/5.6:


The crop of the Vivitar looks better.

Lets do another test to confirm this:

Nikon better.
Now @ f/5.6:



Vivitar better again.

Now infinity test:
First, wide open:




In the center, both lenses are pretty good. Nikkor has a slight edge. In the corners, the Nikkor wins.

@f/5.6:




Nikkor better in the corners, Vivitar a bit better in the center.

Instruction of how to torture your baby. The Nikkor is more contrasty wide open. The Vivitar despite being close focussing to 1:2 is a standard 4/4 135mm design a bit like the second version of Vivitars 135mm 2.8 from Komine.

The Nikkor seems to have a bit more glass in it (second element) and is 5/4.
