Hi,
this is one and the same lens? No optical differences? The Yashinon seems to sell cheaper on eBay.

Yes, they are the same. Surprised the Yashinon would sell for less, as it actually says "Tomioka" on the name ring.

As far as I know the Rikenon 60 mm f/2.8 is also the same (and likely also Tomioka-made). It is the one I've seen for the best price yet, but I don't think it has been made in big numbers. In regards to the price of the Mamixa and Yashinon: My suspicion is that the Macro-Yashinon was made in significantly higher numbers, so availability might play into it as well, if more of the Yashinon stock has been put up for sale.

In my article on Tomioka I've also mentioned the Tomioka Tominon 60 mm f/2.8, which I've seen recently and also suspect to be the same lens basically.... if you get this one let us know:

Regardless which version you get, it's an outstanding macro lens (some say among the best with an M42 mount), however it has one drawback - the aperture doesn't open fully. Even wide open you see slight edges of the blades. But the image quality is pretty good overall...

How much time do you typically spend setting up a macro image on average?
I am aware that each time may be different...

To me, it seems that the creative part (imagination of a macro scenery) takes the most time

As you suspect, it varies a lot... the one with the raspberry took 5 seconds, because if I remember correctly it was a single shot outside, the feather and flower are focus-stacks in studio... the first one probably took a little longer to set up because of the drops. I'd guess 10-15 minutes for preparing, framing and adjusting the lighting. The flower was likely similar, but it certainly took longer to shoot, because of the amount of shots (around 40).

To give an average time for all shots (in terms of setup), isn't easy, but I'd guess it's somewhere between 5-10 minutes, with them varying between one minute and (very rarely) up to 45-60 minutes. If it takes too long to realize something I usually adjust my plans to make it simpler. So I've kinda accepted that a lot of the time my shots will end up somewhat different from the original vision.

Interesting, but are you sure about that? I've never heard about a lens like that, nor can I find one at the moment. Does it go by another name?

Miranda were quite focused on macro applications from almost the start, back when they were called Orion, releasing well made bellows units and adapters for them, as well as their 10.5cm lens which separated from its helicoid for macro use. They also had the 52mm F/2.8 lens, following that a 55mm F/3.5 lens which I think could be found in either a 1:2 or 1:1 housing. I don't think any of those designs were from external sources, although they may have been constructed by contract manufacturers.

Thanks a lot! That's a 52 mm lens, which is probably why I couldn't find it... I highly doubt that's the same lens. At least I don't see anything which would suggest that. Still looks like a very nice macro lens though.

I meant to say vintage macro as the most I've seen were 50-55mm

Leica Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8.

The AF-D nikkor is pretty vintage as it has been around for 30+ years.

Yes, there's the Nikkor 60mm 2.8 D macro. I've never tried that one, but I've heard positive things.
