Some quick samples with my latest enlarger lens experiment. This lens is crazy sharp. I was able to use an m39 to m42 adapter. I used it with my FD bellows via FD m42 adapter. I also used it with extension tubes and m42 helical and was able to get to infinity with that, though not with the bellows system. My example was in mint condition in the plastic bubble and set me back 29.99.
First a scaled images then a 100% crop. JPG's not edited,scaled only.

I've come close to pulling the trigger on a room or enlarger lens a few times.

A surprisingly inexpensive way to get sharp macro. As I said 29.99 for this lens. I have a Komura in the same FL that is nearly as sharp. Schneider, Nikkor and many others out there. A m39 m42 ring is 2 dollars and a m42 bellows can be had for maybe 20. Caution though as many enlarger lenses use "jam nut" to fix to a lens board which complicates adapting a bit. The VNEX system look intriguing and I definitely plan to pick one up before too long.

Took a few more yesterday. The oregano was late PM sunshine and the African violet was with a halogen light in my kitchen.

Hi Jamaeolus,

Had that Rokkor for a few years. Being a Minolta man couldn't not have it Wink swapped it for my EL Nikkor f2.8/50mm (older version). Never regretted it. Ah think the Nikkor is a better, sharper lens. A couple below, with extension tubes as well. Ah do think, like you, that these lenses are an underused resource...

I used to make macros with enlarger lenses on a Sony A300, worked like a charm. Now i have an A7 and just recently i tried to do the same and all i got were hot-spot circles in the middle of the screen! Tried a few lenses, all the same..... so i aborted the experiment.
I'll have to pick it up again, enlarger lenses are great to play around with!

BTW: those horizontal strikes and the spots (especially on first pic), is that sensor dirt?

Yes. I have since cleaned it but have not yet had a chance to try it.

Sounds like you have internal reflections...

Got this lens in a bunch of others, very much impressed. It seems to be better colour corrected than Konishiroku 3.5/75, so has less "character". And what a clean, balanced and pleasing rendition!

WO, on Sony APS-C

At f8, in fact, almost no visible difference in sharpness

Yes, I had one of these for my initial macro work, very pleased.
I remember finding diagrams on them, they're actually Tessars. I'll have to dig it up.

I thought E. marking corresponded to triplets. If they are Tessars, it explains an even shaprness across the (reduced) field of view.

Oh, I remember now - it was in my Minolta "dealer's" manual, the reddish brown one called a guide, that I seemingly can't find a picture of.

I remember the cut away very distinctly, the whole E range are Tessars.

Unfortunately that dealers book is currently sarcophagus'd until I'm ready to scan it in. If you really want proof I can get it out though.

Think I saw atleast one leaflet separately which showed they were Tessars too.

Thank you for your availability! Please don't feel pressed. It is a small question of curiosity for me, nothing crucial.
