A lovely, quiet and relaxing stroll around The Chatsworth Estate. Starting at Calton Lees, down a very muddy river bank to the Hall, then over the hillside to Edensor and back to the car 🙂
This gave me a good opportunity for me to take out the Asahi Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 early model 2 lens (this lens was manufactured somewhere between 1965 and 1971) and is still able to render exact details on a modern Olympus OM-D E-M1 mkii body.
I have purposefully added the vignette and blur in post-processing as I wanted the eye to be drawn into the centre of the image 🙂

It's a typical beginner mistake to overdo things. Did it myself back then.
Also, many people are spoiled by cheap, kitschy effects in those "photo apps" and think "when all the people use and like them, they can't be bad, can they?"
They are bad. It's just the equivalent of "bling bling".
So: Remove the blur entirely, reduce the vignette to a slight amount. |

You posted a very nice pic.
If you wanted the images in that way, well it is as you like.
The aesthetics considerations are yours.
Did you obtain what did you look for? Well. So, well done. If not, try it again. |

Okay folks. Here is your downtime puzzle for the holiday. Is there a lens that has the properties to create an image like this? I need to have a think about it too. I have a brass lens in mind that I've used before, but the name wont come to me.
Mark, I hope you don't mind me using your lovely image for this. We should do this more often on the forum. Now where are those pigs in blankets. |

Reminds me of C-mount lenses used on larger formats and old f/1.5 sonnars. |

Ooh, you know what's just come to mind? That Fuji cctv lens that was super popular a few years ago. I can't remember its official name though. |
