Apart from the mediocre mfd of 1.6m it is a very likable lens

Very good pics, Tom.
Nice rendering good resolution power and contrast.
I had one copy a long time ago (near 25 years) and was not HFT. Made in germany. Very good too. But had haze in the infernal face of the first element. I cleaned sometimes but the haze returned always. |

Have same lens in Voigtländer branding and M42. Indeed one of the better ones for little money. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

Extension ring, no I simply used the lens as is. You are right, the mfd isn't as bad as some.
I guess we have been spoilt by lenses like the AR Hexanon 3.2/135 with its 1m mfd
The DKL Dynarex is a very good lens, and I suspect that it was designed as a hiking telephoto, small enough to carry in a pocket and with an mfd that was not important for landscapes.
Cheers

Now that's interesting statement indeed, did they ever think in hiking lenses in 1950's? I'm not sure about it, but it's one of the smallest 135 mm I know and it has pretty good resolution ,even though mine one it's got a border decement. |

Well, the Voigtländer DKL Super-Dynarex 135/4 evolved from the Super-Dynaret from the Vitessa-T rangefinder camera and was introduced 1959.
The original listing mentioned that due to it's relatively fast aperture it's good for snapshots like at sporting events.
It was sold until 1970. The MFD was 4 m, which is indeed quite a distance.
It has nothing to do with the later Tele Tessar which was called "Color-Dynarex" when sold as Voigtländer variant.
This is the information from the Voigtländer Report from Claus Prochnow. I think that's the best source for any Voigtländer related issue, but available as printed book in German only. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

With the portrait lens made ad hoc, the MFD was 2 m. and the Max. was 4 m.
The design of the tele Tessar, the color Dynarex and the súper dynarex of the Icarex, had as Father the old voigtlander DKL version.
http://www.klassik-cameras.de/Rollei_QBM_Zeiss_dt.html
In the same way, my personal experience with them.
Since 1975 to 1998 I have collected all the voigtlander DKL lenses and Icarex ones.
I know them very well |

No idea about ALPA lenses and this project. But the Rollei Zeiss Tele-Tessar 135/4 QBM lens was available in Voigtländer branding in both QBM and M42 mounts made in Singapore.
I've got the M42 variant from Singapore and glued the aperture pin for the usage on digital cameras as otherwise the aperture stays open. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

These are my Voigtländer variants all made in Singapore in M42. All of these are available in Rollei Carl Zeiss in QBM as well. Optically identical. BTW, ALL Singapore made lenses are HFT coated, irrespectible of markings or branding.
On the left side the Rollei Tele-Tessar in Voigtländer branding which obviously needs some cleaning:

The Rollei Planar 50/1.8 is the Voigtländer Color-Ultron 50/1.8. Just the name Ring on the front is different.
Besides that I think I'm more than fine with my already existing collection of lenses. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

Indeed, Tom. Nice example picture.
Several years ago most probably the best "normal lens" in this class.
Have now also played around with the Tele Tessar and agree, it's a very nice lens as well. Almost on the same excellent level like my Leitz Elmar 135/4.
Only the 35mm/F2.8 Distagon is a little bit disappointing in my infinity landscape testing and IMHO slightly below my beloved Minolta MD 35/2.8. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

Tele Tessar 200 is the same then 200/4 Voigtlander Super Dynarex for Icarex? |
