Two pics taken at F/2 in backlighting
MD 50/1,4 and Hexanon 57/1,4
Strong CA in both (in Hexanon far less that I hoped)
No PP at all, as always

Feel free, please, and tell what do you think about those lenses. |

Thank you
Uncoated, I tried a Long time ago with my old voigtlanders and Zeiss pre War lenses and the images suffer a lot.
About single coated the question is not linear. With some SC lenses (f/ 3,5, 4, 5,6 and 6,3) with Tessar or triplet design the IQ should be Equal or better than 1973/1980 more complex design lenses.with cheap MC.
I think about the Tessar ( a rebranded Skopar?) 50/2 8 in Icarex mount, SC with nice contrast single coated lens from the end of the 60's |

Yeah my experience is that coatings varied considerably from on manufacturer to the next during that era. That is one of the reasons that MOST of my collection is after the development of good coatings. The cheapening and plastification trend from the early 80's on is why most of them are from before that. I call it the golden age of manual lenses. Are there really good lenses before or after? Of course. But during that era virtually ANY OEM lens was going to be a top quality product and many aftermarket lenses as well. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

The quality of the brand is almost all.
You can take a 1930 Zeiss Tessar 105/6.3 Pre-War lens and produce very acceptable images.
The Voigtlander Apo Lanthar 150/4,5 made in the 50's is newer but a very good one. |
