I did not notice this particular group on cine lenses and posted previously to the general manual focus lens forum. I have been using a Sony A7ii and a projection lens (modified rodenstock heligon 95mm F/0.95). Wide open, the results have an ethereal quality about them. In fact, given that I am in India this lens has a lot of potential for some magical pictures, but it is very finicky. The DOF is razor thin, I cannot shoot in full sunlight, and it is quite soft to begin with. But I think the results are worth it. I would very much like to get feedback from this group given your experience with these types of lenses.

I was rather taken aback by the reactions on the dpreview portrait forum, which were quite extreme.. either hating or loving these results. Some were adverse to the experimental nature of these images, some thought my emphasis on art over technical aspects was unnatural, and others wondered why I was bothering with such a technically flawed lens.

Your XR Heligon isn't a cine lens, so the general manual focus forum is the appropriate place to post this.

On a side note, I am not convinced this subdivision of cine lenses serves any real purpose. Hardly anyone posts here and there is no good reason I can think of why lenses once used on cine cameras should be in a separate forum from lenses used on stills cameras, projectors, enlargers or any other device. But then again, maybe other people appreciate it.

Sorry. How do I delete this post?
