This Rodenstock Heligon f1.6 100mm Xray machine lens is a surprisingly fine lens with plenty back focal length...

Surprisingly great fakes of large format photography. That's a joke.

There is an interesting article about this lens here (in Russian) also showing how to convert it: https://avtor-page.livejournal.com/5141.html and also some from Bob Friedman at Nikongear using it on Nikon: http://nikongear.net/revival/index.php/topic,8043.0.html

The lens is this one (went through my Rodenstock data files):

Beautiful pictures, Klaus! Thank you for sharing them and also for sharing the data about this lens.

I just realized that I have a copy of this lens in one of my drawers (the version without the F/1.6 marking). I bought it new quite a while ago but never really used it, because it was not really compatible with the DSLRs I was using at the time due to the short registration.

Now I think you have aptly proved that this lens is worth some effort to get it back into service!

Cheers!

Great Sebastien, bring it to use then!! I use an adapter ring from Rafcamera and a M65 helicoid plus camera adapter (als Rafcamera) to quickly mount it (my standard mounting system I have developed with Rafcamera)

Nice picture!

The field curvature seems pretty wild on a 24x36 sensor (or maybe your lens was somewhat in a tilted position relative to the image plane): there are sharp bits scattered all over the picture! LCA is also quite strong but the level of local contrast is amazing.

Cheers!

Abbazz
