Every several years (10 -20) they need some love
Costs have gone up but a good service should be in the $250-450 range depending on model and what is needed

1) Actually not. Maybe every 5 years to clean the viewfinder, if so.
2) I know an honest and very skillful technician and the cost depends on the problem.
3) In my case, yes. But this may not be the usual situation for most people.
This is valid for all my cameras. I have some experience in servicing cameras, but I usually avoid curtain shutters, although I like to service leaf shutters when I have the proper documentation.
In my opinion "to take a Leica every x months for CLA" is a complete waste of time and (a lot) of money. |
