My 90mm f4 Elmar was made in 1954, has some scratches on both front and back elements, plenty of dust inside and maybe a bit of minor misting for good measure. I've long given up worrying about such things . . . camera on tripod, f5.6, jpeg from Leica M8.

Thanks for the comments - the old 90 Elmar has some interesting and charming qualities. Often overlooked in a photographic world seemingly obsessed with high speed and contrast, it produces "gentle" images that perfectly suit many subjects. _________________ Stephen

All the pics are OK.
Very lovely images, subtles.
Far form the contrast, the high contrast of some newre lenses.
Ideal for flowers and people. It is just a portrait lens.
That is all a portrait lens have to do. This and no more (and nor less).
At the same time It seems to me that the 90 Elmar is better than the 90 Elmarit. Of course, been both contemporary.
Great lens. Great Leica (another one |

Wonderful shots, how is it at infinity? So far it looks as good or better than my Tele-Elmarit. _________________ A Manual Focus Junky...

This lens (elmar 90/4 triplet) has infinity on a7. But I photograph "landscapes" very rarely. I did not make a single photo at infinity with this lens. So I can not describe the possibilities of this lens at infinity. |
