Not something "peaceful", rather a Testosterone-thingy, but darn fast that beast...not too fast for an electronic shutter Wink

Here the moment it passed a slow boat...(cropped in)

I was following the speed boat while expsosing, hence why the other boat is a bit unsharp as well as the BG

Good shots, Klaus. Given your vast experience in photography, I hesitate offering advice, but here goes anyway.

You must have been shooting with a fast shutter speed and with the lens stopped down quite a bit. There is no panning blur in your "hi-speed" shots and the depth of field is really good.

Next time, to create a sensation of speed, reduce your ISO down to minimum. This should let you stop your lens down far enough for a slow shutter speed (1/125 or slower). Then pan smoothly through the shot. Follow-through is important, just as it is with a golf swing.

I think this is the only fast boat image I have handy. It isn't a very sharp image, but it gives you an idea of what I mean. It was shot on film: Kodachrome 64 with a Canon A-1, probably using an 80-200 zoom I owned at the time:

Michael, you certainly have more general photography experience than I have Wink

And I was testing a lens while walking along the river and it just so happened
that some boats came by...

So if ever I plan on taking on a carreer as a sport photographer, I will certainly
be making good use of your advice and vast experience !! Smile
