Yah... Formally - it is the AF lens. But - however anymore. It has the problems with AF. It is simply dead. And it is from Sigma’s old stock, which means, that it will not work with the modern Canon digital cameras anyway. It simply blocks it.

So, I use it with Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma EF-Mount Lenses to Sony E). With that Converter the diaphragm for old Sigma lenses works OK. but the AF is really awful. Completely useless. However – it is the same with all EOS lenses (including the native Canon one, but excluding the modern Sigma lenses with EOS mount). So, I don bother for the dead AF, and use it simply as the manual lens on my Sony a7s camera.

So, there is the first test sample.

Sony a7s

1/500 s; f/2,8; ISO 400

Nevermore!..

It seems to be a pretty sharp and contrasty lens!

Oh yes! I decided to obtain it after I discovered several very favorable reviews concerning it. And the price was quite affordable.

Before I had been very skeptical concerning old Sigma lenses. Basing upon my experiences with their zooms. But suddenly I discovered that there were really gems in fix-focal aria.

Agreed, there are some true dogs when it comes to old Sigma lenses, but there are a few with very good optics. Last year I bought a Sigma (AF) 180mm f/5.6 APO macro, which has excellent optics. The 24mm f/2.8 super wide ii seems to be very good as well, and I bet there are more.
