For fans of this lens, there's a couple of ad page scans and a couple of catalog page scans at http://www.jfcampbell.us/photo/vivitar28-90.htm

Thanks fellas.
It is a little soft at f2.8 but sharpens up nicely from f4

Here is an image that has had an HDR treatment and a play in NIK.
The original images were all from the Vivitar of course, but it shows the potential of this wonderful lens

Excellent images, OH. I was about to ask what film you used, I have such a film-mindset when it comes to that lens, having shot with it with film cameras for so many years. It was probably that 1984 ad that led me to buy my original copy.

I had one in Canon FD mount, so it was frustrating not being able to use it with my Canon DSLR. So I bought one in Nikon mount. Problem solved. I love that lens.

Thank you Michael.
Yes the lens does perform well. Mine does not resolve as well at f2.8 as those tests seem to indicate.
However by f4 things sparkle and snap nicely.
Here is one more from the same day

It's been a while since I've shot any photos with my copy. Back in the day, however, I would frequently shoot with the lens wide open, and I didn't really notice any softness. Mostly what I noticed was, at 28mm and f/2.8, I got some noticeable vignetting. But by f/4 it was gone. Here's one of my favorites. One reason why I've always liked it because there's no visible horizon.

Canon A-1, Vivitar S1 28-90, Kodachrome 64. Exposure unrecorded, but it was just after dawn. You can see some hints of vignetting, so the aperture was probably around f/3.5. Still, even at f/3.5, there's lots of fine detail. Circa 1984.

Good old Kodachrome.
Nicely done Michael.
