Hi all,
I just got this CZJ Biotar 58/2, but the the red letter on the name ring seems to be mysterious to me. I know there are red T versions, but I never knew any with this "crossed out" T. Can someone explain what it is?
Hint: armless exa mount, 12 blades (if my eyes are sharp enough), preset aperture, min aperture 22, sn 3702923 (suggesting that it was made between 1952-1955).

From what I have read this is another artifact of the Jena/Oberkochen trademark wars. Some country decided that Zeiss Jena couldn't use the red T on lenses imported to it so the importer modified the T before putting the lens up for sale. _________________ Steve

Yes, that's it.
This altered "T" is sometimes called "Flying kite" _________________ my Ebay auctions

One more question - I noticed a small amount fungus on the edge of the front element. Is it necessary to give my porn star a surgery (either at home or in hospital), or maybe I just try to sun dry it? |

Why not? Best way would be deleting all signs of fungus so It can't more and more square of the lens.
You can try make it by yourself. |
