I bought this lens off Ebay, on a whim.
It's cheap... but i don't even know which mount it has, cause the vendor said that the rear cap is stuck and he didn't want to cause any damage... Very Happy
I guess i bid because of the "Taylor" name, of Taylor, Taylor & Hobson fame. I'm very fond of Cooke lenses: probably the best mechanical build for half a century, and still making gorgeous lenses after WWII.
This is a totally different animal: japanese make and not so refined, but it looks well built.
The box is marked Taylor Optical, and the lens "P.C Taylor C 1:3.5 f=35mm".
At the front there is a Tiffen adapter for US-style series filters.
From my researches it should be a product of Fujita Kogaku. I have seen a similar (nearly identical) optic on Ebay, marked as Gamma Terragon.
Am i right? Anybody knows more?
Small quiz: from the size and shape of the rear cap, which mount should be?

Thanks in advance

Paolo

Fujita for sure, the mount is probably Exakta Wink (my guess)

Exakta would have been my guess, looks sort of like my dad's Carsen 35/2.8 in Exakta.

From my experience, this rear cap only found in early Japanese made Exakta lenses(I have a similar one on my Sun 9cm F4).

My dad's Carsen 35/2.8, is a match to the Fujita above. I'll have to upload a picture or two.

Gamma Terragon (love that name)

I have yet to use it actually, and I published that blog post above some months back! It beckons me Smile The collection has grown a lot since then.

Lol, I just did some quick shots to confirm I got infinity in the right spot after relubing it, I'll try to get out with it asap.

Hello,

the world is rather small indeed!

one week ago, I've bought exactly this same lens in the same box (identical scratches to the cardboard and same serial no.), although looking as having been thoroughly cleaned/lubricated.

This piece of optics, looks very well made and I will try it on my Exakta soon.

Best wishes,

E.L.

A very small world indeed!
There aren't a lot of vintage lens collectors.

Well, I don't consider myself a collector of vintage lenses, I just look for those to mount on my favourite cameras: the rangefinder Contax (and Kiev), the Contarex, the Exakta, the Pentacon (Contax-S and its followers) and Alpa.

I was attracted by this compact lens, with a name remembering (but only remembering) a prestigious, British manufacturer: Taylor, Taylor & Hobson, whose "Micronar" on my Microflex TLR, bravely rivals with Zeiss's Tessar.

As said, as soon as I will have some time, I will try on my Exakta.
