Sometimes we search for parks or some shows to take picture of flowers, plants, bugs, without observing our gardens and our flowers.
I love flowers but don't take a lot of pictures of them usually.
Last Saturday i was at my Mom's Home with all my stuffs, like always it is with me, and i take some shots.
The lens used are:
Minolta Rokkor PG MC 50mm F1.4, used at F2.8 only
Minolta MD Macro 70-210mm F4 ratio 1:3.9 from len's specification, used at F5.6 - F8.0 and F9.5
I had sun but some wind, you will see i used fast speed sometimes.
All shots were handheld because the Minolta are manual lens, and i can't consider them real macro, but just shots.
For the next time i will try to use more the rokkor 50mm F1.4 with extension tubes, because i suspect his IQ is over the 70-210mm.
Some lightroom adjustments and here we go.
You will find all the EXIF info on each shot, i took notes of the len, focal lenght and aperture used and added then to exif with exiftool.
Please C/C are welcomed but remind this is my first real shooting session with my a6000 on flowers, tried to have a background linear, but for some flower it was impossible.

Yep i know that, i was looking for a Tamron SP 90 F2.5 and a Tokina AT-X 90mm but the auctions went too high for my pocket.
So for now, i will try my "macro" lens (i have severals to try, i have also a Vivitar Serie 1 70-210mm F3.5 Kiron version and a Close Focusing len don't remember now which model)
I have extension tubes for Minolta MD, Canon FD and E-mount (Sony) lenses, so for now i will try these type of lenses, but before i need to check all my lenses and divided them by category (i have about 70 lenses)
Obviously a dedicated macro len will do the job easily but I don't want to spend a fortune for a macro len, repeat for now i'm interested in flowers but don't need 1:1 magnification and i prefer a tele focal len against a wide focal len, also 1:2 magnification or little less would be enough, for me already 1:3.9 that i got is enough, but if i could get less distance from the subjcet i could isolate the subject better from the background.
Anyway the next time i will try to use also a tripod/monopod to use slower speeds and a remote shutter after focusing manually.
But i suspect that i will need to check all my lenses before.

Yep, i suppose i have the Vivitar Komine 135mm F2.8 Close Focus, that is that i meant when i wrote (i didn't remember the model in the previous reply).
Repeat i bought a lot of lenses in the last year because i had them for few euros, a lot of them in bunch, some with camera too, and for now i only tried 3-4 of them, more i added other lens to the collection.
But now i'm trying to use them and i need to choose which one keep and which sell.
I hope to have some time in the next days.

P.S. sorry if my english is not so good

Nice job with the two Minoltas. I know how frustratingly hard it could be to hand-held shoot a macro. You'll hit the mark more with your tripod.
I just picked up a cheap copy of the Minolta MC Rokkor PG 50 f/1.4, and it's a capable fast lens. Definitely will need extension tubes to get closer with it. A few 28mm f/2.8 will also do Close-Focus duty and do very well with flowers. The Vivitar/Komine 28mm f/2.8 C.F. and Sigma Mini-Wide 28mm come to mind.
There were some very colorful examples from both gardens. Nice variety of subjects. _________________ "The eyes are useless when the mind is blind."

Thanks WNG555, i never tried to shoot macro before (also if 1:3.9 is not real macro) but i didn't imagine che F8 in those cases has only some millimeters of DOF, and just some wind breeze or a little movement of the hand or the camera misses the focus completely.
I will try the Rokkor 50mm F1.4 with extension tubes (i suppose in the weekend when i usually have more time) but i will have to use also the Pentax-M SMC 50mm F1.7 that has a shorter MFD and is really sharp wide open so i can't imagine stopped down, but i don't have extension tube (but i could use the e-mount extension tube, losing automation that is not a problem).
I have to try also the Sigma Mini-Wide 28mm (i have it too but didn't know it was also macro), i suspect i have too many lenses to try but i need to do it
I visit these gardens usually in the weekends and flowers change often, my Mom and my Mother-in-law love to change flowers, so they mix flowers, take new flowers, sometime when i go outside of Italy i bring back them seeds of flowers that i don't know or never seen where i live.
A lot of flowers still need to open, so maybe, for when i will find the extension tubes between all the lens i have, maybe they are ready to take some shots.
I would like to take some inside macro shots but maybe i will need to stack photos with different focus point, so the final images will have all the flower in focus, but that will be another story, i don't know if will be possible to take more shots from same distance with several focus point, usually some little wind is present.
Thanks again for your comments and hints
