It is pouring down with rain here but I can still do photos!
A silly test with the Tamron SP 500mm Mirror lens.
Blending shots for extra DOF
Shots were taken from the comfort of the house. Camera was the Pentax K100 because the K10 is still in the car boot and it is too wet to go outside and get it!
Exposure was 1/20 sec 400asa. The mirror is of course a fixed f8 (Nearer f9) Distance 4-5 meters.
Despite a good tripod set up I can see slight sign of camera shake.

This is 3 shots blended together. 1 for the flower 1 for the bud and 1 for the pool.
I did this fairly quickly. With more time spent on it I think it has good potential?

A 100% Crop of the above

Three shots again

A crop from one of the sharp bits

A single shot to show the DOF of the lens and unretouched background Bokeh.

Finally a shot with the Tamron SP f5.6 300mm at f9 1/30.
I think this shows it is better to get closer than to go with the longer lens.
Of course there are times you have no choice and the SP 500mm is a good alternative to a huge heavy normal 500mm lens.
