All full open @f/2.5, Nikon D750. I feel the blue hue in the dark is flare.

hmm, I would recommend not to shoot dark objects against a very bright background!
Try same with bright light in your back and roses against dark, will be massively better!

Very beautiful pictures. Maybe a bit of light and shadows optimisation in Lightroom would not hurt.
