Simple setup producing great results. I have the same equipment albeit from different manufacturers, I must put it together and try this over the holidays. I have lots of old family photographs which need a new lease of life.

Glass on the top of photo is not best solution, sometime produce reflection. I use glass as weight. But results are great for me.

Good Luck over holidays Smile and Merry Xmas

pepes thank you. I wish you a very happy new year. you have a very good set up. I like your results. see lighting is the issue with coins. pristine coins are like mirrors. they are very tough to photography. I read where you said you have to set things so that you don't get reflections. that what I would like to see your images and how you diffuse your light. have a great one

I can't find a good online article about this but do a google search for "family of angles", and a google image search for the same term, light will always bounce from reflective objects but we can choose angles such that the reflection doesn't show up in the pic.

If you want to get serious about it the book "Science Light Magic" has a lot of info.

thank you very much. pepes I believe he is on the right path that may help myself. coin lighting is very difficult. I have the sony a7rmark II. I am simply amazed at how little light. I need to take coin photos. the only problem is the control pro 1 tethering program. I had to delete it I don't like it at all. canon is way a head by leaps in the tethering process. I really like my sony camera. I think I will stick with it. thank you I will find that book. thank you so much wow. I have some reading to do. thank you fuzzywuzzy . there is a gentleman from Germany that put on a demo. he was using a dome. I can not spell the name. he made it look so easy. I am trying to find one of these domes. he shots all pristine coins so easy. all you do is place your coin in the middle of the dome. it lights the coin so evenly. if he markets these he will make a lot of money. coin shooter will grab these up for sure.

fuzzywuzzy thank you for the information. after reading quit a bite of this family of angles. that is exactly what pepes is doing. he is setting the light low enough to cut the reflected light into the lens. that is some of what I am doing wrong. I think that pepes photo cube is a great idea. I just like to see some results have a great one.
