I recently picked up a R.E. Auto Topcor 35 2.8. The seller told me to convert to EOS I should look for a topcon to EOS adapter. Will searching for an "AF confirm" adapter do me any good? The body is a 7D. What terms, on Ebay, should I include to assure me that I'm searching for the correct adapter? Do I include the word Topcor or the word Topcon? Is Pentax mount the same? Exacta? Could someone point me in the right direction on Ebay?

I found the following. Is it the correct adapter? Can I do better in that price range or less?

Shots on the mount on my lens.

This is a tough question. You will need an adapter with two slots. One circular slot in the inner part and another in the outer part of the adapter like this http://www.rainbowimaging.biz/shop/product.php?id_product=325. You may not able to buy the adapter as it seems they don't supply it anymore. However, I found it does not allow the lens stopped down fully and it does not work on some lenses without filing down the outermost pin as show on #1 top left. I heard that the adapter may not allow for infinity but I have no Canon camera to test it now.

A work-around will be buying a adapter with a circular inner slot and file down the outermost pin. There is replacement mount covert Topcon lens to M42 but I am not sure if it works on every RE Topcor lens.

P.S. Don't file down the outermost aperture coupling pin if you want to use your lens on a Topcon camera.

Thanks. I have a M42 adapter, so I would now look for a Topcon to M42, correct? Like this?

Is my mount also known as Exakta?

If so, will this work?

Or will this one work:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-New-Exakta-Topcon-Lens-to-Canon-EOS-EF-Mount-Adapter-Adaptor-Ring-Silver-/171003645355?

Seems to have to most promise so far.

No. This Click here to see on Ebay might work if you file down the pin and it also works with other Exakta lens. Or this one to M42 Click here to see on Ebay if it supports your lens.

Rather than filing the pin down, would making a slot in the adapter work just the same? Or even dismantling the lens and taking the pin out altogether?

You could try it yourself.

It's a great lens, think you will love it when you get the mounting sussed out. Works great on the body pictured, too. Wink
