Tiny screw on E mount adapter

I am selling some of my olympus OM stuff and someone wanted to buy a lens and the adapter from me. He had a sony 7 full frame camera. The adapter wouldn't mount on that camera whereas it doesn't have any issue on my nex3n or a6000.
I inspected this adapter closely and compared it to my other adapters. I noticed this tiny screw on the mount on the opposite side of the red dot. None of my other adapters have this. Is this the reason it doesn't fit on a full frame?

Most probably, no.
All my adapters have that little screw but some of them don't fit my A7RII even they are O.K. on my NEX-7 and others fit it. It was a dilema to me till I have carefully measured the adapters.
What I've discovered is that some of them, the ones that don't fit the A7RII, are less thick with ~0.2mm than the ones that fit it.
The E-mount on the A7 cameras is made with less tolerance than the E-mount on the NEX cameras (and it's all metal).
Even more strange, Chinese adapters sold under the same brand have this tolerance and some fit my ATRII while others don't.
I really can't advice wich cheap Chinese brand to get to be sure it fits the A7 cameras.

My friend told me many of his old adapter are difficult to mount on his A7RII and some of them can't mount on the camera at all. It may be a good idea to open a thread for gathering information on the compatibility of adapters on the second generation of A7 cameras.

I'm not familiar with Sony adaptors but that screw looks as though it is the stop screw to prevent the bayonet mount turning too far.

Having said that it doesn't look like the original screw, even manufacturers of cheap adaptors don't normally use a screw that is obviously too long.

If in doubt you could always remove the screw and try it without, but be careful not to turn the adaptor past the normal position.

Well, I may sound like that guy in the roman senate "Carthaginem esse delendam", but using such elaborate cameras
calls for equally well made adapters. So I would go and use NOVOFLEX ones for instance. This "get a very expensive camera"
and then buy "cheap equipment" (adapters, lenses) and then wonder why it creates problems I never got Wink

BTw. Carthago GOT destroyed .... Twisted Evil

I have a cheap adapter for almost every mount there is to fit NEX, and just recently bought an A7.

Not a single problem, they all fit.

On my camera ~20% of my ~50 old adapters don't fit anymore. Considering the cheap price it's not very scaring.

I think you are spot on. The adapters made in China sometimes come with the little screw a little off the correct position and this ends up causing trouble to attach on some cameras.
