Hello folks , I have recently bought the above pictured tamron 90/2.5 52B lens ( seller photo, the tele converter is not included ) . Now as you can see the lens is missing the focus grip , other wise the lens is optically and mechanically very very good condition. Please advice me on a replacement focus grip for this lens.

Have the same problem with one of my lenses. Thought about buying a pyramid rubber mat and cutting out a stripe. Glueing the ends together reliably always poses a problem, but a tire repair set might work. Further, the texture is not quite the same as on the original rubber grip. If you're fine with that, it's a fast solution.

I repaired this Tamron 70-210 using leather. I just cut it with a craft knife and glued it down using a contact cement. It's been on there for a couple of years now and hasn't shrunk or needed regluing. I've done a couple of Tamrons like this because I find really nice ones at the camera fair with disintegrating rubber grips that nobody wants, and I get them for next to nothing.
This leather is a piece from a WW2 DC3 Dakota pilots seat that I acquired many years ago, but old leather coats, car seats and ladies bags are a good source, and they come in nice colours.

1. find a junk lens of similar diameter and cannabilise the grip.

2. On the large lens here I used a textured vinyl type material, was probably off some sort of eg suitcase. Cut to size as carefully as I could so that the edges abutted straight and tight. Put a bit of paper under the join and used a strong polyeurethane shoe repair type glue to stick the edges together. sellotape to hold until set.
