Yesterday on the flea-market. Bought for little money. Lens like new:
Lens was built 1956 to 1963 (model no. 2) and was the standard lens for that camera. It's a Cooke triplet 3/3 design.
Camera serial dates to 1959. Camera is rather forgettable (at least for my taste).
Actually I've bought it only for the lens. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

Sorry, I don't know as I don't have a Domiplan. The Meritar delivers acceptable center sharpness and rather weak corners. That's all I can say for now.
My first test pictures with this lens are not very promising.
However, I tested only for sharpness so far. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

I have both Meritar and Domiplan - I'll try to do some comparison pictures and show them, but it might be a few days before I can get to it. _________________ Stephen

Thank you Stephen.
My guess is that they will perform quite comparable. At least the main characteristics should be quite similar (center sharpness/weak corners).
Somewhere (in a German forum) I've read that the Domiplan delivers a slightly softer bokeh. _________________ Thomas Bernardy

Thanks to both.
Nice to see the rendering at the Best apertures of the two lenses, at f/11.
Which will do the goal?
I guess the domiplan win. |
