WOW! At that price it would need to deliver the goods! _________________ "I've got a Nikon camera, I like to take a photograph" - Paul Simon |

Koji, your samples are really appealing to my eye:
Especially the familiar Kyoto station, looks very good for being wide open. Thank you for posting! I have a list of lenses to buy as soon as balance permits, and although I have the predecessor (28mm f/1.4D AF Nikkor) the 24/1.4G is on the top of that list.
Two Nikon released sample shots, I've seen a couple more with blue hour and sax player (one with fill-in from gelled SB-800) and they looked quite spectacular for being wide open.

Wow! Such a fast wide angle is ever so versatile!
I have got a Sigma 1.8/24 and I really love it, no matter if on my 40D (as a 35mm equivalent) or on my 5D (as a real wide angle).
Congratulations to your purchase. These shots are stunning!

I got F6 many years ago, have to buy (slide) films this year to shoot with many of my M/L mount lenses.
These days I only use digital cameras.
This large lens is very versatile, however very large unfortunately.
This large lens should have less vignetting, the size is due to its silent motor I guess.
Zeiss' lenses are generally large, I thought it helps to reduce "vignetting".
But the world is changing now.
There was a rumour that Zeiss was making 35/1.4 lens, and newer
ZF.2 25mm lens should be F2 at least. But Nikon's came first.
(nikon is making af-s 35/1.4g and af-s 50/1.2g... Ugugug) _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

Nikon F6:
I think F6 is the best manual camera Nikon ever produced, its finder
is something you have to look through to believe it. Personally I love
my Nikon F2 (Photomic), but F6 bests it. However F6 uses en electric
circuit to function, it might be an Achilles' heel in a long run.
Nikon made a good decision to make it small body unlike F5,
I usually carry a camera for traveling, the lighter is better for me. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

Hahaha, all things relative. Actually F6 is lighter and smaller a little bit,
but not much different since D700 was designed based on F6 I think.
For traveling I kind of prefer to film cameras, since they do not need
extra memory card(s), batteries, battery charger, and memory storage
which also requires AC connector.
Having said this, dSLRs are more convenient and better results in many
cases. I normally carry two cameras with at most three lenses for a trip,
sometime one camera with a lens. I am not too strong not young. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

great lens,!
It seems to be very good in distortion - very straight lines !
the image quality is amazing..
Carl Zeiss had a prototype of Contax Distagon 1.4/25 but the lens has never come out, unfortunately..

Rumour says Sony will have 24/2 from Carl Zeiss for thrie alpha series

Nikon came first, so I jumped. The lens is good optically, but big and
heavy, that is a week point I guess. Oh the price tag too.
I am enjoying now, do not know how long this honeymoon lasts.
It has about 2% simple barrel distortion, its actual FL seems between
AF nikkor 24/2.8 (close to 24mm) and CZ T* 2.8/25ZF (25.7mm), so
it has 25mm FL in my guess. Nikon never tells us its true FL to customers
unlike Zeiss. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
