Thanks Kryss. I'd like to find a broken Argus C-44 and cannibalize the lensmount for an adapter. These are great lenses. _________________ My crazy Flickr group: Effected Cameras

Here's the lens and adapters that I'm using. The lens is a Steinheil 35mm, f4.5, made for the Argus C-44. I'm holding it tight against an M42-NEX adapter. The small ring next to the M42 apapter is from a 0.42x wide angle filter. When I screw it in, it creates something of an extention tube, macro effect.
Even the M42 adapter is too deep. If I make a real adapter, it will need to be a little thinner, or I"ll never get inifinity focus. Anyway, it's fun, and the Steinheil is a brilliant lens.

Thanks uddhava. I was just on eBay looking a broken C44. I think I'll buy it and make an adapter from the lensmount. I was thinking that if I screw it to a M39-NEX adapter, the combined thickness should be close.
BTW, I've shot a few photos with the factory Argus C44 Cintagon 50/2.8 - very generic. It's not even close to the beautiful images I'm getting from the Steinheil. _________________ My crazy Flickr group: Effected Cameras

I have an old Argus C3 that used to be my Dad's. It has a 3.5/50 Argus Cintar lens. He took probably thousands of slides with that camera.
Please post some photos with the Cintagon. I am sure everyone would like to see the results from it.
Good luck with your adaption! |

Thanks Attila. They're not really rare but most were sold in the US. I got this one a few years ago with an Argus C-44 and another Steinheil, the 100mm, f3.5.

OK Uddhava, here you go. The 3 flower photos are all from the Argus Cintagon 50/2.8 pictured at top - same freelens technique as the other photos in this thread. The bokeh is rough to say the least. They also lack the clarity of the Steinheil. No magic at all.

Keep us posted on the adaptation progress. I've always wondered if these Argus C3 lenses would be usable on a mirrorless body. _________________ "The eyes are useless when the mind is blind."

You're welcome Uddhava.
I thought that I may as well test the Steinheil 100/3.5 while I'm at it. It also came with my Argus C44.
It behaves quite like the Steinheil 35mm, but it is a lot harder to focus and hold straight freelens style than the 35. I can see similarities in color depth and image rendition. I really like the bokeh on the last photo.
