I bought it from eBay and it arrived after 3 MONTHS later ... !
What a miracle Smile

At first I was about to get the P6 version of this lens in local market but then I read Attila advice in the forum to get the Alu version.

When finally arrived I was surprised that this lens is very small Smile

I just got time to test this lens this afternoon.

Here are some sample shots.

At first I was a little bit worried that this lens showed low contrast and muted color in indoor shot. (I have deleted the photos), but when I tried it outdoor this afternoon the color is very well saturated.

By the way I am using 5D2 with Standard picture style at default setting.

At f/2.8

At f/4

And one more thing, usually I downsize the photos using one-step image size in Photoshop. This time I try multiple sharpen-image size step. Smile

Congrats for your new gem! FIx contrast if need in post processing and low contrast problem solved. This is a lovely lens and very good one in my opinion. Is there any haze inside, alu lenses are easily collect significant amount of sust inside and produce lower contrast images.

Pretty amazing shots. I love the bokeh. Almost Helios-like at times.

Really fine pictures ... The #1 and the #2 show the same saturation and contrast i can get from my Biometar, although i have the P6 version ...

Probably yours renders a better bokeh than mine ...

And i was thinking that my LBA was off Twisted Evil ...

Thanks Attila. I just check the lens and I saw some scattered tiny dust (or is it a slight haze?). Sad

Thanks.
Very Happy .. I just passed my LBA peak period Very Happy ... now I'm in cooling down process.
By the way I dont intend to collect lenses, instead I want to try and have experience with all well-known manual lenses before I die Very Happy, testing and comparing them and finally keep the lens I like the most + lens that have very unique character, and sell the rest Smile

Some dust is not count in image quality, if any lens element completely covered with fine dust or looks like milk that is haze what is count. These lenses are single coated usually produce less contrast than latest lenses.
So use auto contrast in photo shop and you will be happy Wink I have to modify contrast even with Leica-R lenses if I shoot with 4/3 cameras no matter Panasonic G-1 or Olympus E-1. Case is better with Sony NEX.

Love the shots. Thanks for posting. I just got this lens along with a Primotar 50mm 3.5. Arrived this evening. Seems this lens is hard to find in the M42 mount. The focus ring is a little stiff, but the glass and aperture blades are spotless.

From your shots, it seems like it has that magic combination, good sharpness across the frame and a bokeh full of character and old world charm. Can't wait to take this out on a long walk and see what it does. I am very excited, it's like each MF lens opens a door on another part of the universe Smile

All the Best
Tim

I have a P6 multi-coated version of the Biometar and it is a fantastic lens. It produces better bokeh shots than most of my lenses.
