I'm still pretty new to the lens mania, but I quickly scored a bunch of decent lenses. However, recently I got some good advice from a member in regards to shooting for better lenses, so that's what i have done. I recently graduated college and got some graduation money, which I saw as "extra" and figured I'd use it to fund a nice lens hunting endevour. Well, about $1000 bucks later, this is the damage done.
21mm 3.5 Oly, 21mm sekor f4, 28mm f2 Oly, 28mm 2.8 Oly, 50mm f2 voigtlander septon, 50mm 1.8 Carl zeiss ultron m42,17mm f4 SMC fisheye takumar, 12mm spiratone fisheye and 135 2.8 Steilheil München quinar VL.
So far I've really fallen in love with the Ultron, the 21mm Oly and the Quinar. The Quinar is really heavy but I love the color rendition. The Oly is really compact and a joy to use and very sharp- one of my favorite lenses. The ultron is just another story- I compared it to my nikkor 50/1.4 ai-s, and it made me want to throw the nikkor in the trash.
Going on a road trip this weekend, so plenty of samples should be coming. If anyone is interested in certain samples, feel free to request- I love having little projects. |

Nice, you seem to love wide angle lenses alot
Congrats with a nice collection! A good thing about legacy lenses is that the $1000 bucks is still there, or might even grow _________________ Lars | Manuellfokus.no |

Hehe thank you. Almost all I had was 50's so i tried to do some catching up with the wide angles. I believe most of these lenses will go up in value and have rather high resale potential so I figured it is a good investment! And most of them I got for about half of value-So you're absolutely right. Now I have to get a full frame body to do those lenses justice, but I'll have to hold off for a minute. |

+1. Very true that. Considering the sort of collection with Septon, Quinon, Ultron, etc. these are pretty good investment choices. Enjoy the new lenses and don't forget to post samples! _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/58547200@N00/ |

That Mamiya 21 / 4 interests me......I'm in love with my Mamiya 55 / 1.8, and the 50 / 1.8 isn't bad either. If the 21 is in the same class, I want one. Let's see some pictures from it. _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

Wow! Well done!
Some really excellent lenses there, apart from that 12mm Fisheye. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Thank you guys! I love the unconditional support you get here. Most of my friends are into other things, so they have a very "another lens?!" attitude. Don't get to share much of this interest with any peers in real life.
I apologize for the late reply, but I have not been feeling well. It's kept me from enjoying my photography to the fullest.
I plan to make a sample post for each lens over the couple of weeks.

Well thank you very much! Yes, now that I think about it and have learned more about the lenses I realize how well I've done. Big helper was the 28mm f2 Oly and 28mm 2.8 for $50 (local craigslist 'extra lenses') and the septon came with a Bessamatic for $100. The 12mm was something I came across for $50 on ebay, it makes for a fun time with the friends but you're right- it's by no means sharp. The 17mm SMC Tak makes it ever more obvious.
@imagedit
Under the cloth it's just the hood for the Quinon. The lens is so much taller than the rest, made the picture easier ;P
The Ultron is absolutely spectacular, and I had gotten another one for cheap but sold it to fund getting this one for free. However, crazily enough, I have another one on the way...stumbled across german seller with a funky listing, I was the only bidder. I probably won't be able to justify keeping both of them....
@Lloydy
I stupidly forgot to pack the Mamiya 4/21 :/ I honestly have not fallen in love with it so far, but I have not given it a proper outing. Not the images, just the feel.
I used it once when I first got it, but now when I'm in need of wide angle, I just go for the 21mm Oly. Weather should be nice and I should be good to go for some outings soon, some samples will be posted soon.
@iangreenhalgh1
hehe thank you. I think they are both beautiful, and they perform great. The Septon has greater "character", but the Ultron is just a little bit higher class of a lens. I feel like I have to get a Nokton, since in my head they are somehow sibling lenses and I missed out on one stupidly already |
