I bought 25 of these and they have worked out great. Pricing and shipping cost go way down as quantities go up. You have to negotiate. I apologize that this seller does not ship outside the USA, though it would not surprise me if Canadians were able to wrangle an exception.

I was uncertain at the beginning because these are nominally Vivitar TX/m42 ("U") adapters. I had m42 adapter needs for Vivitar TX lenses, Vivitar T4 lenses, and Soligor T4 lenses. As things have turned out, these adapters worked in all instances straightaway. I have not found a T4 or TX lens where these did not fit fine and work really well.

As rule of thumb, you can use T4 adapters with TX lenses, but you cannot use TX adapters with T4 lenses, at least not without sometimes need for adapter modification. But because these TX adapters are strictly m42, with no extraneous mechanisms, they work just fine with T4 lenses and with no need whatsoever for modifications. These are an exception to the rule of thumb.

Here is the auction, being categorized for reasons unknown as "snowmobile parts":

For me these have been incredibly useful. I hope they help you, too. Good luck to all.

To use T4 with TX lens I modified the adapter very simply, all it needs was the catch / button lifting very slightly. I removed the catch and replaced it with a paper shim underneath. One layer was just enough to prevent the adapter jamming on the lens.

Thanks, Lloydy, that sounds like an excellent tip. I cannot say I've had a lot of experience with T4 adapters on TX lenses. Most of my lenses in this genre are T4, both Vivitar and Soligar. So I was initially concerned about using TX adapters. But in all instances I've gotten at least one click, and in several instances more than one, when I rotate the locking ring. There are, I guess, slight manufacturing variations. But one click is all it takes to lock the adapters.

Most of my T4 and TX lenses are "dogs and cats", brought in with a wide variety of (to me useless) adapters or, in a fair number of instances, with no adapter at all. So this auction has been a Godsend for me, allowing me to bring all my lenses, without exception, up to m42 and instant usability without outlandish expense.

I made two separate purchases of these TX adapters because I was uncertain early on whether or not they would work with T4 lenses. But my larger, second, purchase was for 20 adapters at a negotiated cost of US$3.40 each with free shipping. That's very reasonable for adapters which are so useful and which are not available for purchase from Chinese manufacturers at any price.

Yeah, that's how I discovered the trick of shimming the release button assembly. I got one jammed on and slacked the screws off a turn and the adapter came off easily. When I measured the two adapters very accurately there was no difference except the measurement of how far the teeth of the release catch stuck out, which was a tiny amount - about the same as a bit of printrt pater - so I just shimmed it as a test, fully intending to file a bit off the teeth. But it worked perfectly so thats hoow I left it.
