I just picked up a LTM version of the Jupiter 9 for cheap. I've always wanted to try one of these out as it is seen as a bit of a classic.
My lens looks to be from the 70s with a 73 serial number and black. Anyone share any information on the lenses from this era. Are they any good? anything to look out for? It looks like it has no coating on the glass.

I have one in Kiev mounting from the same period. It is coated, but doesn't have the same appearance that more modern multi coated lenses have. Mine starts to pick up in performance at f2.8 and by f5.6 is perfectly respectable. It gives you a good idea of how far lens design had progressed by the late 1930s _________________ Stephen

Lens is on route so I don't have it yet. From what i have seen, I should be pretty happy with it. I don't mind the softness wide open although hopefully there is enough contrast to get a little bit of focus peaking. I'll probably use it stopped down a little most of the time anyways |
