Not sure what forum to post this to, so apologies if this one is not right.

Just wanted to let the adventurous among you point out this auction:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166229454550

It's a AKC-4m (KMZ) 35mm Movie Camera, some kind of Arriflex clone I think, but with some very interesting lenses.

There's the famous but rare Helios 33

Looking at pictures out there it seems to be pretty amazing.

A Jupiter 9, which needs no introduction

But, and this is why I'm posting this, there is also this mystery 50mm F2... I can't figure out what it is, and I was hoping somebody here can tell me.

Full disclosure, this is my camera, being sold with the help of my local camera shop.
I'm only selling it because I wanted the set to at least have a chance to stay intact in case some crazy filmmaker can use it, rather than stripping the lenses and dumping the rest. Smile

A bit of information.
AKS is a serie of 35mm camera used for aerial purpose.

On your turret, the Jupiter-9 is in fact the most interesting, as it come in a rather rare cine housing.
The Helios-33 is a relatively common lens. It was used in various devices for years.
The RO3 is also a common lens, it was on many cine camera by KMZ (Konvas series). The version on your camera can be interesting as it is a late version, but without any suffixe. RO3 is supposed to be the earliest version, then came the RO3-3 and then RO3-3M in 60's. Your lens is from 80's. So it kind of interesting yes.

Ah thank you!!

Shows you how little I know hahaha.

It’s weird. The camera looks nothing like an aerial photography setup. More like a heavy duty studio version. It’s damn heavy, I can tell you that.

Rare or not, the helios 33 looks gorgeous to me. I already own a jupiter 9 and love it dearly.

What’s the fifty like?

Also, does the mount make a difference! I assumed a Jupiter is a Jupiter regardless of mount. Is that correct?

Usualy aerial cameras are quite heavy, that's not a problem. The source of my info is a pretty reliable site about KMZ. Here is the page about the AKS cameras. (you can use google translate)
http://www.zenitcamera.com/archive/aks/index.html

RO3 is a double gauss design. It usualy goes on turret with RO4 35mm/2 and RO2 75mm/2 (the RO2 is the most interesting of the turret, and price are relatively high now for this lens).

The mount does not change that much about the glasses, that's right. But collectionners usualy don't care about the glasses. Différent body can be interesting addition to a collection for some people.

so the AKS-4 is identified as an Arriflex clone, and is indeed a 35mm movie camera, but adapted to be used on airplanes?
That is wild!
