Shots taken at dinner this evening with the X-Fujinon 55mm f/1.6 + A7. This lens was a revelation on the crop frame X-E2, and I am really liking what I see on the full frame A7. I'm observing similar sharpness to the Konica AR 50mm f/1.7, but much more pleasant bokeh.

(A7 @ 1/60, ISO2000; X-Fujinon 55mm f/1.6 @ 1.6)

Is it M42 lens? Your photos look really great. I saw other samples taken with this lens and seems like your lens even has better CA control with good sharpness.

Splendid. I was wondering about this one. Any good (cheap) adapter link?

The cheapest NEX adapter is 20ukp for some reason.

This is one of the X-Fujinons worth having, much better than the 1.6/50 that replaced it.

I got the adapter from China via eBay. I'll share a link later.

This is the X-Fujinon mount version. I lucked out on this one at $69.

I agree with Ian that the results from this lens are very good.
Yours also shows a lovely rendering.
I have seen many excellent shots from owners of this lens - thanks for sharing yours

This is the NEX - Fuji X adapter I have, nice quality, works good. I also had a Kiwifotos one but sold it when I sold most of my X-Fujinons.

I didn't find the 50/1.6 that bad, the MFD was a bit long, I ended up with the 55/3.5 also, to team up with the 28/1.9.
Really want the 19 & 100.

The 1.6/50 I had was pretty bad actually, it was sharp enough but it had a lot of CA and it didn't go away on stopping down, even at f4 there was significant red and green fringing. Maybe it had a misplaced element?

The 1.6/55 is much bigger and much better built. It is really good, no CA issue and has an almost Zeiss-like 3D pop (well, the EBC version does, dunno if the non-EBC also does, maybe not).

Here is my daughter and her best friend @F1.6 X-Fujinon 55mm + A7. 1880px if double clicked.

I don't know if my eyes are wrong but this doesn't look sharp to me.

esqx's shots are at ISO 2000, so some detail will be lost.
Pancolar's shots are under 2MP, when they are that small, how the size is reduced can heavily impact the perceived sharpness, maybe he will post 100% crops.
FWIW, I don't see any sharpness issues with the posted images, but then again, I don't think sharpness is the the most important quality of a lens.

That's fair enough, but sharpness was mentioned initially, opinions are everywhere and as relevant or irrelevant as may be. I'm not attempting to knock or derail but this lens lacks clarity and substance to my eyes and basically; it just don't look sharp in any way.
That said, I have about 8 Fuji lenses I bought as a job lot so if anyone wants one or eight....I'm yer man?
Apologies if this comes across as negative, it wasn't meant thus, just my visual judgement.

No worries, there is a trend that if the lens isn't surgically sharp across the frame the lens is shit, so it bugs me when people make judgments about a lens based on web sized pictures(<2MP) that have been processed.
Pancolar's shots are resolving single strands of hair, how much sharper do you need?

Well I never said the lens was shit, and yes, the crops show good detail but the standard shots look 'murky' to me but as I said, perhaps it's my eyes and my perceptions that are wrong.
Calm down. Wink
Anyway, this is a computer based forum so it will be seen on a standard res. monitor so how else should I judge them being as this is the format being used to show???

Two more wide open.

I wish people would stop getting too caught up in the sharpness of a lens wide open. They weren't designed to be shot wide open so if they aren't producing pixel level sharpness wide open on a modern high density sensor then we can't really complain, it's like asking a family compact car to take you everywhere at 100mph - was never designed to do it. Obsession with bokeh makes people forget to use their brain and the aperture to manipulate the dof to fit the subject and results in a lot of crap photos that fail to make use of the lens' qualities and instead, exposes their shortcomings. Much smarter to play to a lens' strong points than just stick it on wide open and snap away.
