This lens is considered a cheap one with its simple triplet design but I found out it's got a real character and I felt in love with its "retro" look.

Here some shot I made with it mounted on an Olympus e410.

Sharpness wide open at F4 (look at the writings inthe foreground):

Tridimensionality and sharpness (always at F4):

Bokeh (always at F4):

The two shots are great. And the subjects are so nice that even a crappy lens would make a nice picture. But this lens here really sings.

In the last pic I do not like the highlight bokeh, I'm afraid.

Take in count that those highlights come from artificial lightning coming from many directions and reflecting on the shiny surfaces of the fruits and vegetables. I know very few lenses that can handle this situation better than this.

Perhaps, but in this picture you see rings rather then disks. This is what I dislike.

I very much like the character of this lens, as evinced in these wonderful
photos! Will be looking for it on ebay, thanks for sharing!

Thank you AG - that is a nice looking lens. I agree with the comment on the OOF of the third picture, I too find it a bit distracting. But sharpness and colour certainly give it a place on the shopping list. Unfortunately this list is way out of hand for me Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Not all of them are rings, but anyway it's an uncoated lens, from 1955-58 looking at the serial, used wide open, I guess it comes down to some internal reflections but all in all it keeps things together.
Better you do not look at the same shot made with the 55-200 VR Nikkor AF zoom though (with a ton of extraneous reflections everywhere) Wink

I quite liike the fell of the last one not the classic smooth blur but the mix of colours (enhanced?) and the OOF highlights I find interesting
