Any experience with this lens?

Is it radioactive? IQ as pic taker?

Thanks,

Rino.

It's an image of the lens.

I own two Ektars from that era, and had two others that were very fouled with fungus. Yes, Ektars from that era were and are radioactive. No, the radioactivity wasn't strong enough to kill fungus! The Camerapedia article on radioactive lenses says that the radioactivity is very slight; at 1m it may be impossible to detect over background levels. If you lived at 1.5km elevation or higher, you would probably receive a larger dose than if you slept with this lens against your body.

My two Copy Ektars (similar to this Printing Ektar) are interesting lenses. They do not have modern coatings and are subject to flare -- they were NOT built to aim into lights! Hoods are necessary. One of mine has fungus and low contrast and softness; the other is clear, with excellent contrast and sharpness. I consider the clear Ektar to have very good IQ.

Both of mine have 1.5 inch screwmounts, just over 38mm. I use M39-M42 adapter rings, held on with a drop of glue, and cheap new M42 macro tubes that lack auto-aperture pins. Tubes with pins have throats too small for the lens body.

I hope this information helps you!

RioRico. Thank you, very much

Very informative your words. It seems to be a lens to try.
