Hi a while ago I owned a Sony NEX-6 with a beautiful Canon FD 50mm 1.4 lens, however I sold it as money was tight. I recently bought a Alpha 6000 in the hope of getting back to using manual lenses. Yesterday I bought this set for 60USD, and the seller will be shipping it out tomorrow, the set is all MC mount, except the 50mm 1.7, which is MD, and I already have the adaptor for it.

Minolta 50mm f/1.7 incl. filter.
Minolta 50mm f/2 incl. skylight filter.
Tamron 135mm f/2.5 incl. bag
Tamron 28mm f/2.5 incl. B+W filter

Also two bodies: Minolta XG-1 + Minolta SRT 101 incl. original bag.

He did not want to sell individual parts, so that is why I had to get the two 50mm's.

Mmm, yes you've done pretty well there! Besides the Minolta standard lenses, the Tamron 135/2.5 is a very useful lens, be sure to give it a good trial. And I reckon the 28/2.5 is okay as well.

The general opinion of the 1,7/50 MD is the older 55 mm filter is the best, but the 49 mm filter is very good too.

About the 2/50 people seem to think in both sides (great lens or average one). You can tell us your opinion!!!

Sounds good. Yes especially the 135mm peaked my interest, and it seems to be fairly sharp as well. Never tried Minolta lenses before, however I've heard good things about the contrast those make.

Thats a good deal for all that gear, the two 50,s are both great lenses, and I think the two Tamrons have a good reputation. And the A6000 is a great camera with old lenses.

Do you know if the 50mm 2.0 is sharper than the 1.7? I have a hard time figuring out why I would shoot with the 2.0, if I have the 1.7. Any different characteristics between the two? The one being MC mount versus the MD mount might have a saying?

I don,t know which is sharper - I have the 1.7 and 1.4 - but I can hardly tell tthe difference between them. I have a bunch of Rokkors and like them all, and Tamrons. The Rokkors all seem sharp, and the colours are good. I sttumbled into Rokkors very late in my photographic hobby, I wish I,d done it sooner.

I've had both in different periods. I remember the 1.7/50 (MD, 49mm filter) as one of the sharpest 50's I've had and the 2/50 as an good-non exceptional lens, but it was with different cameras so comparison is not scientific. Probably it will be hard to see the difference in real world use, except you're a serious pixel peeper.

You should be able to get 1 or 2 good lenses out of that set, and if you sell the rest of the stuff, you may have got them for free, that's a good deal in my book.

MC and MD lines use the same mount. Minolta updated their lens line moving from all metal and glass (MC) to metal, plastic and glass (MD) to keep up with the competition who were making lighter lenses. Your current MD adapter will work fine with the MC lenses.

That SRT101 is a nice to play & work with! A camera from better times, when they used heavy metal to build a cam!

I don't know anything about Minolta lenses, but about the Tamrons I could say a few words:

- Tamron 135mm/2.5 (03B) - it's a wonderful little lens - it's very sharp and usable wide open and stopping it down sharpens it up nicely even more. It gives beautiful colours, it's great to use as it's very well built and has built-in lens hood. I was looking for one for some time in reasonable money and since I bought it 5 months ago I'm very pleased with it.

- Tamron 28mm/2.5 (02B) - I really liked the lens as it's reasonably sharp from f/4 (at f/2.5 it's ok sharp for close ups). Corners on APS-C were very good when stopped down a bit. On film it needed stopping down to f/5.6-8 to get corners right. It's very good against the sun. I sold it after buying Vivitar Close Focus 28mm/2.8 which is better in every way, especially on film, but still I was very reluctant to part with it. Most of all, you should check those film bodies you got, put some film and enjoy. I didn't own any Minolta camera, but from what could be read it's great cameras. Shooting film is wonderful experience and real joy.

Oh man you guys make me excited. The package will arrive tomorrow, so I will have a look on the condition of the different items. I don't know about film, I did shoot film with my dads Canon T50 when I was very young, however it seems hard to find film these days, and getting the film done is costly.

UPDATE: The package arrived today, and the Tamron 135mm has a bit of dust inside, don't know if I'm gonna bother disassembling it. The Tamron 28mm is rough on the outside, however the glass is in pristine condition! The 50mm 1.7 Minolta has a tiny dust spec on the inside, I might disassemble this one, as it is absolutely beautiful on the outside! Also the 50mm 2.0 is great as well! The aperture work perfectly on all the lenses, the focus ring is a bit muddy to turn on some, however that is expected, is there any solution for this? I'm in the progress of making backcaps and frontcaps for them all on my 3D printer Smile
