Small and light lens (plastic barrel) that feels well made with smooth well damped focus and well define clicks it the aperture. It might just be the best 28mm lens I have tried on the NEX. It's very sharp, even wide open, has little distortion, CA is very well controlled, but best of all, the EBC coating means it's very contrasty. I shot these samples in very bad light yet the lens maintained an impressive level of contrast and colour saturation. As an added bones, it has a nice slightly swirly bokeh.

That's rather good Ian. It looks like one of those lenses that just does the job without any fuss or glamour. Which is a good thing, it's nice to have a lens that you just grab and know it will deliver. I've got a 55 / 2.2 Fujinon but I can't get on with it, it has delivered some good pictures, but it's also delivered some poor ones, so I just reach for a lens I trust.
The gloomy weather probably doesn't do your pictures any favours though. They are good when you look at them carefully though.

I actually chose to try this lens on a gloomy day as this is the sort of light that sorts the men from the boys when it comes to lenses.

I have been shooting a Pentacon 2.8/28 recently too and I think it's probably as sharp as this Fujinon but the coating is definitely not as good and that is really apparent in gloomy light.

X-Fujinons seem a mixed bunch. I had 1.9/50, 1.6/55, 1.6/50 and 2.2/55 and the 1.6/55 was very good, the others were pretty average, sometimes producing underwhelming results. None of them had EBC though.
