Just got an old auto topcor in 35mm Tried it today at lunch with my EOS 60D, but haven't had a chance to look through the photos. Its an odd beast. Has an arm, like an old exakta lens, for the auto aperture? Its got a button to lock the aperture in place and a lever to open it. Another little button on the arm that I can't figure out what it does.
You can see one like it here:

Of course I didn't pay anywhere near what Kevin asks! 74 USD
Its barrel was a little worn but glass was in pretty good shape, some minor marks on the coating but little dust inside. Smooth focus. Snap back on the aperture return lever a bit slow at first but after working it a bit it seems to have loosened up. I have a couple old Tokyo Kogaku's that I just love. A black 200mm F3.5 (guessing on the aperture I don't have it here with me it might be an f4) and also a silver RE topcor 135 3.5 with the built in lens hood. Hoping (someday, when money comes in the mail!) to get the legendary 58mm 1.4. Anybody else used the old style topcor with the arm? I have seen stunning photos with the silver 35mm 2.8 RE auto topcor on here.

I don't really have much experience with the Topcor R 35, I do have the Topcor R 90/3.5, 135/3.5, 200/4, & 300/5.6 which are all presets.
They are all superb except for the 300.
I do have a 58/1.8 with the arm, it used to be my dads, but there is separation between the glued elements(doublet?)
Does the button you can't figure out hold the shutter button in? My 58/1.8 doesn't have the extra button.

I also have a few RE lenses, 28/2.8, 35/2.8, 58/1.8, 58/1.4, 85/1.8 100/2.8, all are great, with the 58's and 85 being steller.

I also have 2 LTM lenses, a 35/2.8(which I need more time with to be able to comment on it), and a 50/2 which is awesome.

Real hard to go wrong with Topcor lenses.
One from the RE 85

I figured out the little button/ lever. It does interact with the shutter button but doesn't hold it down. It allows a test of the aperture close without pushing the shutter button. so if you set the aperture to f22 slide the "aperture open" lever open it stays open until you push the "shutter " button. but if you want to close down without using the shutter you can slide the little silver button out and not engage the shutter.

I would expect the lens to be excellent. Lightshow likes to show off with that 85mm, and yes, I'm jealous. The 2.8/100 RE is my favorite of those I have. The 2.8/35 RE gets a lot of use with me also.
