Just received this soligor and can not try it as yet as i dont have a C/Y adaptor for my nex
What surprised me was how compact the lens is..hence the photos next to the dvd for scale it has 52mm filter thread and a built in hood
I know the C/D stands for computer designed ..my googling only brings up its big brother the F2
So any one have one so can coment on whats it like....also who made it.. SN is 280xxxx

Soligor C/D series is entirely made by Tokina as far as I remember.

ABSOLUTELY not true
The 1st c/d batch was mostly made by tokina but time going you could find some komine lenses (ie : 90mm macro), some kino (ie :105mm macro) a lot of sun lenses (ex : 28/80 one touch) , a lot of kobori lenses (ie : 35/70 2.5-3.5) ...

or Compact Design (depending on sources)
Your lens seems to be kobori made

The serial number starts with 28 which would suggest it was manufactured by Komine.

Good point. I even have the 90mm Soligor C/D macro and knew that it was made by Komine. Memory is a strange thing Laughing

28 code is for VIVITAR only (not for soligor)

The full chromed mount ring suggest kobori/tefnon

2******* serial number suggest SUN as manufacturer, although the Soligor CD lenses that I have are Tokina and have 1******* serial numbers. One has the chrome ring and looks similar, a 28 / 2.8 - but the other, a 70-210 / 3.5 is entirely different style.

I'm beginning to think than Soligor serial numbers have very little relationship to the actual manufacturer and more to do with date and stock control. Perhaps the manufacturer identification is not the first number(s) in the serial number sequence?

I think it is SUN also.

As i suggested before at least three different Soligor serial designation periods can be distinguished:

1. Early
2. Pre-C/D (Middle)
3. C/D (Modern)

In each one can recognize valid patterns. But if you mix those periods you get chaos. When EARLY period stops and PRE-C/D begins is yet to be established.

As it happens, I only recently got one of these (in PK) with a stuck aperture. I fixed it and have been working on a portfolio.

Not done yet, just had it out as couple of times. Sharpness wide open, not so great, especially at infinity.

I've seen better on older lenses. I can't say much about bokeh yet.

It looks like a five element job, similar idea to the older Takumar.

its a shame if its not sharpish wide open..i was hoping for a compact travel lens
