What do you think of this lens at 200mm? _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Is this Kiron the same as the Vivitar 28-210mm, 3.5 -5,6, Macro MC ? Which is a great Vivitar lens that I had ages ago and like a fool I sold it for next to nothing. A strange Vivitar as well, the serial number was 09-------- just like this one on Ebay, and all the others, and the Vivitar Kiron lenses were 22--------.

If it is the same lens, it was a very good one.[ _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

Weird, I found this very lens in my 'for charity box' attached to an old T50 that I bought for the other lens that was with it. I never gave it a second glance at the time but it appears to be highly regarded from what I read, a cult classic no less!. I haven't tried it and probably won't now I'm obsessing over adaptalls so if you want it Dave, PM me your address and I'll post it on to you mate, I owe you one for that lovely A1 kit you sold me for my niece.

The ebay version is made by Cosina.
Kiron made one of these under their own branding as far as I know.
There is another Vivitar in this range made by Kobori. I have had the Cosina, Kiron and Kobori versions and, in my experience anyway, the Kobori is the pick of them.
Not to say that the others weren't good, but the Kobori was clearly a cut above them

As I said - there was nothing wrong with the Kiron, and my sample took good images. The Kobori had an edge in sharpness and 3D "pop" in the samples that I had.
Of course there could easily be variations as these were all pre-loved lenses.
Here is a link to some of the Vivitar Kobori images
