wandering around Russia, actually, a very small portion of it.

first stop, Saint Petersburg

1 - MC Mir 20 M

2 - Jupiter 11

Then we left towards Velikij Novgorod

3 - Rjurikovo Gorodisce Archeological site - Mir 10A

4 - Novgorod Kremlin as seen from the other side of the river Volchov - MC Rubinar 8/500

5 - Again, Novgorod Kremlin's walls and the Volchov River - Mir 10A

6 - ''Millenium of Russia'' Monument, inside Novgorod Kremlin. On the background, Saint Sofia Cathedral - Zenitar M 1.7/50

7 - A beach on the banks of the river Volchov

8 - Yuriev Monastery, dating back to 1030 ad - Jupiter 11

9 - the entrance of the Monastery - MC Mir 20M

10 - A typical local swampy landscape - MC Mir 20M

11 - A beach on the shores of lake Ilmen - Zenitar M fisheye 2.8/16

12 - A beautiful local house, with lovely wood carvings on the windows - MC Mir 20M

Leaving again, direction North, Towards Staraya Ladoga and Ladoga Lake, the biggest lake in Europe

13 - The river Volchov, Staraya Ladoga fortress and some flare - Zenitar M 1.7/50

14 - St. Nicholas Monastery - MC Kaleinar 5N

15 - St. Nicholas Monastery again as seen by further down the river - MC Mir 24N

16 - Volchov river, again - MC Mir 24N

17 - Jupiter 11

18 - MC Zenitar M 1.7/50

19 - Church of Saint John the baptist - MC Mir 20M

All pics taken with Canon 5dIII, processed in Apple aperture
Tomorrow we're off to Lake Ladoga, and then hopefully back to Saint Petersburg: it's a lovely city, and I'd love to stay a bit longer, as the first stop was just a day and a half.
I will eventually update the thread if something worthy comes out.

Thank you for sharing! Everywhere excellent compositions. And interesting optical rendition (a little weaker with the fish-eye but it's obvious). well done!

Thanks Pierre. This part of Russia is indeed beautiful, even better than I expected. I really hope I'll be able to be back soon with a more relaxed schedule.

Thank you for the kind words.
I am really attached to my russian glass: I have better performing lenses in almost every focal length, but there's something with each of those - colors especially but not only - that keeps me getting back to them every now and then.
Strangely enough, the fisheye shot is one of my favourite - except for the green ghosting flare which is a bit annoying, even if not too much for my taste - but I understand what you mean. However I think that the little zenitar is a great performer considering its specifications, age, and (especially) price.

23 - Dawn over Lake Ladoga, it was freezing cold, in case you are wondering (Mir 10A)

25 - A last sight of Staraya Ladoga before leaving (Zenitar M 1.7/50)

26 - A pier over river Svir, the biggest affluent to lake Ladoga, crowded with fishermen complaining about the low water level (Kaleinar 5N)

27 - MC Rubinar 8/500

28 - MC Zenitar M 1.7/50
