Hi!
I've been reading a lot of .. and I mean A LOT of good reviews about the Rokinon or Samyang E-mount lenses..
I don't care about autofcus so that's not an issue.. the only thing I wonder is how the older Konica 21mm for example compares to new lense, with sunflare etc..
How much difference is it? I mean the Konica 21mm costs almost more than a new Samyang 12mm.
Is it because it's rarity or because it's sharp edges ?
Anyway, I need a good landscape lense prefereble 12-24 or something close to that.
Any good cheap tips, with not too much CA, I know you can remove most of it easily but for sunflares etc.
Thanks in advance, also I use a Sony A7 and only been using MF Konica and Canon lenses, I use a Canon 24mm S.S.C for landscape at the moment.. But I dont know, it's ok but I think it's a bit dull with handling the colors. |

Get a Sigma 12-24mm (in Sony A mount or Canon EOS mount via adapter). _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

Tokina RMC 17 / 3.5. A superb lens, this picture might have had a bit of basic levels done, but I rarely sharpen a picture. I might have corrected distortion - I really can't remember. If I did it wasn't much from this lens. And this is a picture that would accentuate distortion. I was very close to the old quarry wash plant taking this.

Fujinon 19 and Leica R 19vII are on my list to get for WA lenses.
I had high hopes for the OM 21/3.5 on my A7r, but it has lots of vignetting, which I hope goes away with the thin cover glass mod.
Rokkor 21/2.8 was not too bad on my NEX-7, I need to try it on my A7r, why I haven't gotten to it yet I don't know...
Zeiss 21 is known to be great.
Leica SEM 21 with the thin cover glass mod sounds real good. http://forum.mflenses.com/viewtopic.php?t=69650
The Canon nFD 20 sounds good, but if you aren't happy with the 24......
The Tokina RMC 17 has good reputation.

The short answer (in my experience) is that the Samyang lenses will perform better than most vintage lenses of similar focal lengths. I have the 14/2.8 which is excellent and the 12/2 on crop which is also superb. The higher price of some of the older lenses is mainly due to the lack of availability, with prices pushed up by collectors.
One obvious exception is the Zeiss Distagon 21mm and possibly the Hexanon mentioned. You won't be disappointed by the Samyangs though, they are excellent. _________________ Graham - Moderator

thanks all.. Yeah it looks like it better to waste some more money and get the Rokinon/Samyang.. No point in wasting money into the Zeiss 16-35 ?
or the new
Tamron 15-30 ? It sounded really crazy with all that glass :> |
