adaptor hawk's factory from leica m to sony nex need fix

I buy a used hawk's factory adaptor from leica m to sony nex but i find it very ugly to use for a simple and unique reason :
when i hold the camera, my finger is pinched between the "release button of the adaptor" and the grip, and this metal release button is like having right angle.




I unscrew the adaptor and used a file to smooth the corner of the release button, it become less "right angle" but i think i have to file it lot more because still punch.
I plan to file it like this :


Did you think it's feasible?
For more larger m-mount lenses, can i press the button down ?

You won't get a Leica lens that's wider than the adapter, so that won't be a problem. And as long as you leave enough on the release button to let you press it down, that won't be a problem either

How do you like the 35mm Nokton? I have the 40mm and think it's a good and useful lens, despite its mixed reviews.

I can't juge it now the nokton, i only used on one walk. i see it vignet strongly unfortunatly at f1.4 even at f4.

I think it is less sharp in the corner than a summicron R 35mm.

I also try it against a contax 35mm 1.4 for a few "test shot". The nokton seems less luminous for same f-stop/iso/speed but the contax is like 4 times bigger so maybe not comparable. I read that the nokton is more like a f2 ( for light of course not dof) lense because of the internal glass used who "catch" like a stop. It's like a 1950 Leica Lenses.

Thanks for those comments - the 40mm Nokton is the same layout as the 1960s Leitz 35/1.4 Summilux but your 35mm has the same layout as the 1960s Summicron, with one extra element. I had both those Leitz lenses in the past and am sure the 40 Nokkton is as good as the Summilux, although covering a slightly narrower field of view. All the fast wide angles from the 60s and early 70s are 'greedy for light' and any underexposure will emphasise their tendency to vignette.

It wouild be nice to see some comparison shots from your assorted 35s

This can be a problem with a lot of adapters, I have modified a NEX to Minolta adapter because I kept hitting the release button and I had a lens fall off. I am ultra careful of my Olympus OM lenses on the NEX adapter, but there the problem is the OM lens release button that is so easy to touch and disengage the lens. I lost a good Tamron lens when it fell off and got wrecked. I'm also very wary of a Pentax PK to NEX adapter that has a ver prone release button.

Does the button on your adaper come off? If it does then maybe the small pin that remains will be enough to release the lens? Personally, I would be prepared to try and modify the the button, or remove it, at the risk of destroying the adpater. Another adapter is easy enough to find and cheaper than your lens.
I would just file it down until it is small enough to still work.
