As I am afflicted with the collecting disease, and GAS besides, I have started a lens collection. I am trying to get all the Auto-Sears all-metal lenses from the early- mid-1970's - not the rubber-grip later models. All of these have a very close family resemblance.

These were the same lenses sold by Ricoh and Mamiya, as these brands were also sold by Sears under their label. They probably came from more than one manufacturer though.

I need some more information, and if anyone can help or give me a lead I would appreciate it.

There are the following lenses in this series - that I know of -

28/2.8 - I have this

35/2.8 - I am uncertain about this. If it exists it will be very similar to a Soligor in T4 mount that I have.

50/2 - Labelled "Auto Sears/Mamiya", standard lens on Sears/Mamiya cameras. I don't have this, though I have the same ordinary 50/2 Mamiya.

55/1.4 - Both Mamiya and Ricoh sold it, probably made by Tomioka. I have this.

55/1.8 - Standard lens on Ricoh. I don't have this, but its easy to get.

55/2.8 Macro - Comes with matched extension ring to get to 1:1. Very rare apparently. This fellow has one -

There is a rubber-grip later version that is a little easier to find.

105/2.8 - Rare. I don't have this.

135/2.8 - I have this

200/3.5 - I have this. Thank you F16sunshine !

300/5.5 - I have this

55-135/3.5 zoom - I don't have this. I missed one on ebay, though I can't imagine it is a desirable lens - why ? Are there other Sears collectors ? Surprisingly hard to find.

90-230/4.5 zoom - I have this. Not a bad lens for what it is.

Any information would help.

Some unanswered questions -

- Is this list complete ?

- Is there a 35/2.8 Sears ?

- Mamiya sold a 21mm and maybe also a 14mm lens - was this also sold by Sears ?

- Does anybody have an Auto Sears 50/2, 55/1.8, 105/2.8, 55-135/3.5 or 55/2.8 Macro for sale ?

I have a 55 2.8 non macro. It is a odd lens to me. It has two sets of aperture stops. Turn the ring to the right and it is in manual. Turn to the left it is in auto. F2.8 being in the center. I also have a 135 3.5 . Both are in mint condition. The 55 2.8 has a front cap with the SR groovy emblem. The 135 3.5 has the leather case but no front cap. I have not tested either yet. I would rather trade for something cool than sell. Have you ever heard or seen the 55 2.8 weirdo aperture lens?

Andy

Both Auto-Sears screw mounts ? Interesting.

Mamiya and Ricoh both had normal 50/2.8's, but not such a curious one. The bi-directional stops were normal on Soligor T4 lenses.

I knew Sears had a pre-set 135/3.5 not an Auto.

I'd be happy to trade. What would you like ? An Oscillo lens maybe ?

Sorry, I should correct one thing. The 135 3.5 is a preset not auto.

Sorry no info but great to see someone building a collection of a less well known set.
