I have no idea if they work or how they work. Sure feel like quality items though.

here is guide for the rangefinder, read the manual and AFTER READING try if shutter, rangefinder etc works
don't try anything before reading it - that can do some damage

the rolleiflex should be simpler but I'm not sure this is the right camera?

The rangefinder is a Tower with a Nikkor lens as standard. Sears sourced these cameras from various manuafacturers.

If it is a model 3 it would be made by Nicca in US occupied Japan between 1949 to 1954. Probably worth a couple of hundred dollars or pounds in working condition. If it is a model lll it will be made by Leica ( I am informed) the clue will be the country of manufacture. A Leica could be worth a little more.

a manual for it is here http://www.butkus.org/chinon/sears/sears_type_iii/sears_tower_type_iii.htm

there are plenty of Rollei experts who can give more info in the TLR

I'm certain that Leitz never made Nicca-badged cameras for Sears . . . but that's an interesting suggestion and I'd be interested to know a bit more about the source for it.

+1!

There were made a few (~300) Leica in this time in the french occupied region (Saarland = monte en sarre) of post war Germany, and even these were marked "Leitz":

There NEVER was a "Tower" engraved camera by Leitz.
Just have a look to the viewfinder outlook (step on the right side) and the (high) ring around shutter knob and You can see this was never done so by Leitz:

In later times Nicca was addet a Lever Advance, a detail screw mount Leicas never had, unfortunately......

Rolleiflex anyway great, and the tower seems to be rare piece!
anyhow that Nikkor f2 5cm is a truly great little lens, quite sought after, often even sells more expensively than the famous f1.4 5cm. A Sonnar design, like Jupiter-8 a copy of the f2 5cm Zeiss Sonnar.
