Hello.

Say you have some manual focus lens and DSLR and you have been offered opportunity to convert your lens to autofocus lens. (process is reversible and no damage/modification is made to lens). How much you'd agree to pay for this? $20, $50, $100, $200 or?

Hmm, no.
I did the opposite, Contax G45 mounted in Rokkor MC 55/1.7 body, and is M mount.
So, I might be biased. Smile

The only way I'd go for another AF camera is if someone made an all out pro spec mirrorless, NEX-7 layout, Canon 1D series build, full water proof to 10m, A camera to do it all.

Pentax 1.7x AF adapter is worth around $300 these days. If something similar was available for Canon or Nikon I am sure it would sell in $500 range.

you can do it with film with the contax AX. it was an awesome camera and a great experience. its an option, so one can still mf if one desires. choice is good. would not want to convert a lens though.

I still have the luck to be able to use my both hands, so no point for me.

with chip adapter you can have semi-AF no need to do horrible things to your lens

Usually no, but from time to time I felt the need of AF with some longer tele lenses.

I will say no, of course, I can't afford to buy an AF lens, lol Smile. However, I love anything in vintage style, and the vintage lenses are really interesting me.

There are times.
Often with a moving animal, or changing light, or a child changing expressions, or a person in conversation moving, its hard to keep these situations in focus, or focus fast enough.
But it has to be very accurate autofocus. Most such lenses I have tried seem to consistently slightly off.
That's not a good substitute for MF, which can usually (except for cases like I mentioned) be exactly on.

If it works with any lens...i.e., is easy to move from lens to lens, like an adapter...might be worth a try...

This would mostly help folks with lousy viewfinder & without live view

Say AF accuracy will be the same as your camera AF system offers. Regarding the lens interchangeability, it would be possible at some extent, as all lens have different construction, various location of focusing ring and so on.

With the right modding you can get one of those Nikon 1.6x AF TC's that will AF on many manual focus lens.....just dont expect it to be too accurate
