Haven't been here for quite a long time...

Bought me a Zeiss Planar 1.4/50 ZK for Pentax K-mount.
Made just a quick-and-dirty comparison with my favourite
Pentax K 1.2/50
Pentax FA 1.4/50

and found them all to be roughly same quality.
The FA not when wide opened but only when stopped down.
No obvious difference in sharpness.

Build quality is something else.... here the K 1.2 and the Zeiss Planar are the best I have in my collection.

I made some 50mm-comparisons some months ago and there the K 1.2 was far better than the FA 1.4.
So I really have the need for some better testings...

Just wanted to point out that there is a Zeiss Planar for Pentax-K-mount that is really superb.

Just plain DYNAMITE Paul. Just to OWN the Planar is a "classic" position to be in! Cool

I have a Planar 80/2.8 for my Rollei 6006 (medium format) and quite a few times I just take it off the camera and roll it around in my hands, looking at the beautiful quality of the mechanism and the melding of metal and glass. Astonishing.

Thanks for the comparison. I just hope that they do re-release of the Distagon 21 or the 85 Jahre. That would be wicked for Pentax users.

Yes, it's really a joy to handle the Planar!
- and it has the A-contact : for metering with the DS really helpful and therefore I prefer it now over the Pentax K 1.2/50 (which is the best and sharpest 50mm-lens from Pentax - and I had nearly every 50mm from Pentax since the 1980's, except the A 1.2...)

I therefore offer it ...

No pics but....

even stopped down to 2.8 the Planar is the winner
Every pic seemed to be very sharp - but the file sizes are telling

- Zeiss 3837 KB
- Pentax A 1.7 3788 KB
- Pentax FA 1.4 3241 KB

Since I really love the Zeiss-feeling I'm offering my beloved Pentax K 1.2/50 on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220222872917&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=012

The FA just stays because sometimes I really need AF....
and the A 1.7?
Well - don't know.
Perhaps because I shot the first pics of my children with this lens...

Smile Paul
