Some first shots with the E. Ludwig Meritar 2.9/50.

@f2.9 (wide open)

100% crop

The result it not good. It doesn't show a nice bokeh, it's not sharp, there is some considerable coma and several other aberrations.
Only good if you like to find a kind of "retro" look in your pictures. Wink

@f4

100% crop

An enormous improvement. Still not really top class, but it's pretty sharp and most of the obvious flaws are reduced, even the bokeh is much nicer.
As you can see in the whole frame shot, this lens provides an image that is good for post-production.

And here are two shots with the Volna-9 2.8/50 - which is of course not a direct contender. As a macro lens, it has a completely different main purpose.

@f4, thanks to the 50mm "freehand" shots were possible.

Both are great samples, as Orio said many times Volna is an excellent lens.Meritar also not bad at all.

I really like my volna (bought on Orio's recommendation) and it is used fairly often if I am only out with my 40D (I have some decent macro lenses for the nikon). Very fine ant sample
